Judith Howard's Research Group

[Dr Judith Anne Kathleen Howard took up the chair in crystallography at Durham in October 1990, moving from a readership at Bristol University and bringing her research group. Support from Tioxide UK PLC for the chair made it the Tioxide professorship for four years from October 1991. Judith Howard was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in June 1996. In 1998, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council awarded her a four-year senior fellowship and in May 2002 she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (London). Judith Howard chaired the Board of Studies in Chemistry for three years from August 2006. Head of Department. Since January 2012, Judith Howard's continuing research activities within the Department have not depended on membership of the Board. In April 2018, she was awarded the Chancellor's Medal by Durham University.
